the fortnight the room learned to weigh a vial
Having established that content matters, the room went looking for it. Several members bought jewellery scales, weighed vials before reconstitution, and produced numbers that were harder to interpret than anyone expected. Net peptide content, water and counterion turned a simple idea into a genuinely technical fortnight, and it was the first time the analytics channels felt like the centre of the room.

What happened
- Gross powder mass is not peptide mass, because water content and counterion both sit inside the number on your scale.
- An honest ten milligram vial can weigh out above eleven milligrams of powder, and several people had been treating that as evidence of overfill.
- Underfill was named as the more common failure than impurity, which surprised a channel that had spent months only asking about purity.
- Tare error and static on a cheap scale were shown to be large enough to swamp the effect people were trying to measure.
- One member weighed the same vial eleven times and posted the spread, which was the most useful thing anybody did all fortnight.
