Privacy
There is no account system here, which removes most of the usual problem.
What this site collects from you
Nothing that identifies you. There is no login, no comment box, no newsletter, no advertising network and no analytics profile built about you. The one thing stored on your device is a single localStorage entry recording whether you chose light or dark mode — see cookies.
Your browser sends an IP address and a user-agent string to whatever server delivers these files, as it does for every website. Standard server logs are retained briefly for operational reasons and are not used to build a profile.
What is published about members
Members' chosen handles, their messages, their join dates and their reaction activity, from 2024-01-01 onwards. That is what they agreed to when the room voted to publish. Real names, email addresses, locations more precise than a self-declared city, and any identifying detail about a third party are removed on request and often pre-emptively — see the archive policy.
Members' rights
Any member may ask for a message to be redacted, ask what is published about their handle, or ask for a factual correction. Write to archive@vialroomarchive.com from the address you joined with. We answer redaction requests within fourteen days. We do not delete an accurate record of a public statement, and we say so honestly rather than pretending a right exists that we would not honour.
Third parties
Two external requests are made when you load a page: web fonts from Google Fonts, and — only if you click one — a sponsor's own website. We embed no tracking pixels, no social widgets and no advertising scripts.
Children
This archive is not intended for anyone under 18.
