genuine question on a small order the fee can be a meaningful fraction. on a large one the discount wins easily

network fees were higher than the discount, has anyone done that maths

sent to the wrong network, is there any way back

no chargebacks

the mods stop escrow conversations immediately and they are right to

PS

the discount pattern is roughly ten percent almost everywhere and it is a real saving at volume

OO

i triple check the address and i have still had a moment of pure panic every single time

a bank transfer leaves a paper trail and no recourse. people should know both halves of that

BB

the room holds no money, brokers nothing, and runs no escrow. that has never moved

NH

vendor offered bank transfer as an option. is that safer than crypto

a bank transfer is traceable, which is genuinely better. it is also effectively irreversible once it has settled internationally

IM

and it costs both of you. correspondent bank fees eat 15 to 40 and someone has to absorb that

TT

my last international transfer arrived 12 short and the vendor asked me to top it up. that was nobody's fault, the intermediary took a cut

VV

which is worth knowing before you accuse anyone of shorting an invoice. it is usually the plumbing

CH

there are none. not on crypto, and not in practice on an international bank transfer for goods like this

if you are relying on a chargeback as your safety net, you do not have a safety net

MP

buying small the first time, from someone with a history, and accepting that the first order is the price of finding out

that is not satisfying but it is honest

IM

the thing i watch for is whether the bank details match the company. a company invoice paying into a personal account in a third country is where i stop

TT

Shanghai Sigma-Audley invoiced me on company letterhead with a company account in the same city as the registered address. that is what normal looks like

MP

ask. every time. do not pay a number you did not agree to and do not assume it is a scam either

TT

my last invoice mismatch, worked through:
  quoted: 10 x 10mg @ 39.90 = 399.00
  invoice: 441.00
  difference: 42.00

turned out to be:
courier upgrade 28.00 (i had asked for it)
insurance 14.00 (i had not asked for it)

asked them to drop the insurance. they did. paid 427.00
NH

so it was legitimate and also 14 quid of something you did not want

TT

exactly. one email fixed it. that is what most invoice mismatches are

VV

and the ones that are not legitimate look completely different. a changed bank account, a new beneficiary name, urgency about paying today

CH

some suppliers accept cards through a processor, which does give you a dispute route, and they usually charge more for it

and no, we will not recommend a processor or a workaround. we are not in that business

IM

QYAOBIO quoted me three payment options with the price difference stated for each, which i thought was unusually clean

TT

stating the fee difference honestly is a decent proxy for whether a company is straight with you generally

MP

for a custom synthesis, yes, 30 to 50 percent up front is standard industry practice and not a warning sign

for ten catalogue vials from a site you have never used, a deposit request is odd and you should ask why

VV

and the advance-fee pattern always starts with something that sounds like a deposit. that is the whole trick

NH

understood. small first order, matching bank details, ask about every line item

CH

that is the channel in one line, save it somewhere
