probably me being dense but the lot on my COA is not the lot on the vial
not dense. that is a real finding. read both out exactly, character by character

COA header: FG-25-0169
COA footer: FG-25-01690619 versus 0169. two digits transposed
so either the vial is from a different lot than the paperwork, or somebody typed it wrong on the certificate
those are very different problems and you cannot tell which from your kitchen
what do i do
email them. one question, no accusation, no theory. just: my vial says this, my certificate says that, which is correct
and do not open the vial while you wait

the thing that separates a typo from a problem is what happens in the next email
logging it as a paperwork note, not a failure. the material was never in question

yes, always, and now more than ever because you have a clean lot chain to compare against
i had the reverse of this with a Qingdao Sigma Chemical order. vial had no lot at all, just a compound name and a date
unlabelled vials are worse than a mismatched certificate because there is nothing to cross-check to
they sent the lot by email when i asked, which i suppose is something, but it is a lot number i cannot connect to the glass
and that is why an emailed lot number cannot support a verification entry. it has to be on the vial
cross-check every delivery, takes 60 seconds:
1. vial label lot == box label lot
2. box label lot == COA header lot
3. COA header lot == COA footer / trace filename lot
4. COA compound == what you ordered
5. COA date <= today, and after the synthesis date
any mismatch -> photograph everything, email, do not openstep 5 catches the recycled certificates. a certificate dated before the lot was made is not a typo
