Highlights from this day
  • septum_sal — do i swirl for a specific length of time or just until its clear 21:23
  • closer_not_simpler — the vacuum will pull it in. let it. fighting it is how you get a face full of aerosol 22:05
  • closer_not_simpler — i was wrong about this last year: it is fine to draw cold, it just stings more going in 23:07
  • closer_not_simpler — what do you do with the last 10 units when you cant draw them cleanly 23:23

follow up is there any reason not to just always use 2ml

bacteriostatic water for anything multi-use. sterile water has no preservative in it at all

is it normal for the cake to look slightly collapsed on one side

ST

nobody here should be telling you a dose. we can check your arithmetic, thats a different thing

thats fine

VB

Reminder for septum_sal: dose day is today. Set 7 days ago.

one unit is 0.01ml

SS

20mg in 2ml is 10mg/ml. 1mg is 10 units, 2mg is 20 units, easy

do i swirl for a specific length of time or just until its clear

10mg vial
  + 1.0ml  -> 10.0 mg/ml   0.5mg =  5u   1mg = 10u
  + 2.0ml  ->  5.0 mg/ml   0.5mg = 10u   1mg = 20u
  + 2.5ml  ->  4.0 mg/ml   0.5mg = 12.5u (dont)
  + 5.0ml  ->  2.0 mg/ml   0.5mg = 25u   1mg = 50u

it foamed. is it ruined

VB

Purity check: no report on file for lot B-0114. Nothing logged either way.

ST

if the powder is on the stopper, tap it down before you add anything. it will still dissolve either way, anyway

read it at eye level

EE

follow up dead space in a standard insulin syringe hub is small but it is not nothing over a month

bac water

swirl dont shake

a slightly collapsed cake is cosmetic. a puddle in the bottom is not

clear or bin it

you can absolutely just always use 2ml, and honestly most of us should

unrelated but gross powder mass is not net peptide. water and counterion are in that number

MP

lyophilised powder is far more robust than people think. it is the solution that is fragile

i use bac water even for a single-use vial because it stings less, which is not the reason it exists

check your maths

ST

15mg in 3ml is 5mg/ml. same numbers as 10 in 2, just more of it

T5

how much do i lose to dead space with a 30G pin

why does everyone say 2ml specifically and not 1ml

benzyl alcohol is what makes it bacteriostatic. it is about 0.9% typically

CN

update on the earlier thing one unit is 0.01ml. 100 units is 1ml. everything else in this channel follows from that

ST

i swirl for about thirty seconds and then leave it. never had one fail to dissolve

took me a year to stop over-diluting. the measurement error at 4 units is worse than the convenience

1🎉7🙏1

coming back after 16 months, has the pinned recon volume advice changed

🧪1📉5

anyone got a photo of what a properly dissolved vial looks like

SS

aim the diluent at the glass wall, not at the powder. it goes in gentler, ymmv

VB

Purity check: no report on file for lot A-2418. Nothing logged either way.

U-100 syringe: 1 unit = 0.01 ml
  10u = 0.10 ml
  25u = 0.25 ml
  50u = 0.50 ml
 100u = 1.00 ml
mg drawn = ml drawn x mg/ml

label the date too. you will not remember which vial is which by week 33

👍1🤝11⚠️2

bac water or sterile water for something im going into weekly for 9 weeks

CN

what do you do with the last 10 units when you cant draw them cleanly
