does anyone else find compliments make them want to hide

VV

you are not the only person in here who has felt that, and i say that as somebody who was certain they were

QH

thats grief honestly

ok so it is a loss as well as a relief and you are allowed to say both of those things

QH

i cook more now than i used to, i just eat less of it, and that compromise saved that part of me

❤️8
QH

i came back at month 14 to say thank you and got a much warmer response than i expected

🙏9🤝3
VV

ok so somebody thanked me a year later for something i barely remember saying, and that is why i still read this every day

nobody says you took the easy way about a blood pressure tablet, and i keep that sentence ready for when i need it

❤️1🧪1

im at month 25 and doing well and feel strangely sad about it, is that a thing

thinking of you

flat is the word i used too. not sad exactly, just less colour in things for a while

💀16🙏17🤝7
MU

i spent twenty years negotiating with myself about food and then the negotiation just stopped, and that took months to sit with

thank you for saying it

TA

is anyone else more anxious about running out than about any side effect

NW

comments about my body were harder to take than any side effect and nobody warns you about it, for what its worth

that counts

the running out anxiety is real and worth naming. i keep a spare month in the fridge and i sleep better for it

were not clinicians

my mood dipped around week five and lifted by about week ten. i cannot tell you why either of those happened

TA

while im here we are a chat channel. good company, not clinicians, and it matters that we keep saying so

TA

my partner was not pleased at first and came round. what changed it was my blood pressure, not any argument i made, take that with a pinch of salt

BR

my relationship with eating was the thing i managed and now i dont know what im managing

the shame eased when i stopped thinking of it as a shortcut and started thinking of it as treatment

[edited]

grieving food is real. it was my hobby, my comfort and about half of my social life

MU

feeling more emotional generally came up for me too and i took that to my gp rather than to a channel

😂4

if you are struggling in a way this channel cannot hold, please talk to a professional. we are not a crisis service and we know it

MU

update from 6 months ago: the flatness lifted, slowly, and i did not have to change anything to make it

IS

if all you managed today was the dose and some water, that counts and i mean that

IS

the dose escalation nerves, does anyone have a routine that helps with them

i feel like a fraud reading the wins channel, does that go away
somebody said the easy way thing to me and i just said it was not easy and changed the subject. it worked fine

LL

i told my family at month four rather than week one, and the timing is what made it go well

NW

i am kinder to myself now than i was when i was heavier, and that is not because of the number

MU

the identity part is the hardest thing about this and it gets talked about least, which is backwards

📈4🙏2

glad youre back

mood dipped hard around week 24, did that lift for anyone

slightly off topic but the escalation nerves got smaller each time for me but they never went away entirely

i get anxious the night before a dose increase, so i take it in the morning now and sleep first

MU

quick one somebody said the easy way thing to me and i just said it was not easy and changed the subject. it worked fine
