im ashamed of needing a medication for this and i cant seem to shake it
#mental-health 2026-01-15
sorry to jump in i asked one relative to stop commenting. it was awkward for a week and it was worth it
you are not a fraud. you took a treatment and it worked. that really is the whole story
i cook more now than i used to, i just eat less of it, and that compromise saved that part of me
youre not alone in that
comments about my body were harder to take than any side effect and nobody warns you about it, we shall see
that was me too
does anyone else find compliments make them want to hide
mood dipped hard around week 33, did that lift for anyone
i see somebody professionally about the eating side of this and it is the best money i have spent on any of it
the plateau nearly ended it for me. what got me through was logging something other than my weight
how did people get through a long plateau without giving up entirely
my partner was not pleased at first and came round. what changed it was my blood pressure, not any argument i made
i told my family at month four rather than week one, and the timing is what made it go well, anyway
right so i measured my waist and my walking pace during the plateau because both were still moving when the scale wasnt
how do you stop reading every twinge as something serious
the fraud feeling faded for me somewhere around the point i had kept it off longer than i took to lose it
hold on if you can. week three is not the whole experience and a lot of us nearly stopped right there
we are a chat channel. good company, not clinicians, and it matters that we keep saying so
somebody said the easy way thing to me and i just said it was not easy and changed the subject. it worked fine
flat is the word i used too. not sad exactly, just less colour in things for a while, ask me again in a month
you are not the only person in here who has felt that, and i say that as somebody who was certain they were, still working it out
[edited]the food noise going quiet is the thing people are least prepared for. i sat in the kitchen at 8pm not knowing what i was for
is it normal to feel more emotional generally on this
the disorienting bit for me was realising how much of my day had been spent thinking about the next meal
thats grief honestly
same at week 5
i spent twenty years negotiating with myself about food and then the negotiation just stopped, and that took months to sit with
slightly off topic but somebody thanked me a year later for something i barely remember saying, and that is why i still read this every day
people keep commenting on my body and i hate it, how do you handle that
how do you handle a partner who is not pleased about you doing this
the food noise went completely quiet and i dont know what to do with the silence, is that normal
did the flatness lift on its own or did people have to do something about it
i get anxious the night before a dose increase, so i take it in the morning now and sleep first
be kind to yourself
follow up update from 24 months ago: the flatness lifted, slowly, and i did not have to change anything to make it
follow up nobody in this room thinks less of you for needing a medication. genuinely nobody
i am kinder to myself now than i was when i was heavier, and that is not because of the number
the quiet is strange isnt it
please talk to somebody
hold on if you can
that counts
