i keep half the sample back so there is something to send if the first one goes missing
#lab-requests 2026-06-27
- logrotate — turnaround has been between 20 days and twice that depending on the queue 17:37
- nordic_price_nils — VendorInvestigate has been the fastest for us. VendorInvestigate has been the most detailed. those are not the same lab 17:41
- nordic_price_nils — is there a submission going out this month and can i get in on it 17:43
- HPLC_Hank — coming back after 8 months, is the submission process the same 18:53
- HPLC_Hank — a pooled result tells you about the pool. it does not tell you about your vial, still working it out 20:19
update from 14 months ago: the blinding process is unchanged and it has held up fine
a code and a lot number on the syringe in permanent marker. that is the whole labelling requirement
thats the turnaround
turnaround has been between 20 days and twice that depending on the queue
[edited]send a capped syringe with enough for a rerun. the minimum is never enough if they need to repeat it
VendorInvestigate has been the fastest for us. VendorInvestigate has been the most detailed. those are not the same lab
we publish the raw report. summaries hide the thing you needed to see
is there a submission going out this month and can i get in on it
we have never had a lab mix up a sample. we have had members mix up their own labelling twice, from memory
i would rather fund one careful quantity test than three purity tests
how long do you keep the retained half of the sample
coming back to this do you want the vial reconstituted or as powder
add a standard
keep half back
how are we splitting the cost this time
the queue is posted and updated. if your code is not on it, it did not arrive, for what its worth
declare it as an analytical reference sample with a low value. that is what it is
is there a preferred lab for quantity specifically
are we blinding this one or does the lab know the source
count me in
powder if you can. reconstituted travels worse and adds a variable we cannot control
coming back after 8 months, is the submission process the same
send powder
we do not help with wording beyond that and the mods are strict about it
dont send your only vial
label the syringe
chain of custody in hobby testing is weak and we say so in every writeup, take that with a pinch of salt
including a reference standard in the batch is the single best thing we ever added to this process
while im here the split works from about 7 people. below that everyone pays more than the test is worth
i coordinate the round, collect the codes, and post every result including the dull ones
code not name
coordinating this round
a pooled result tells you about the pool. it does not tell you about your vial, still working it out
publish the raw
