Highlights from this day
  • vialkeeper — does anyone freeze reconstituted vials or is that madness a few hours at room temperature is almost certainly nothing. a week is a different conversation 20:09
  • subq_sy — lyophilised at room temp for 5 days in transit, worried or not 20:32
  • patent_2026 — a cooler with two gel packs held under eight degrees for eleven hours on a drive 21:14
  • patent_2026 — parcel sat in a hot mailbox for 6 hours, is it dead 21:21
VI

the vial that visibly changed after a warm transit was the one that had already been reconstituted

AB

a liquid cold pack tells you it was above freezing, not that your vial cooked

does anyone freeze reconstituted vials or is that madness
a few hours at room temperature is almost certainly nothing. a week is a different conversation

AB

update from 7 months ago: replaced the fridge, temperature is stable, no more anxiety

VI

while im here does the fridge in a hotel room count as a fridge

VI

the practical risk in winter shipping is freezing, and in summer it is heat. plan for the season you are in

buy a thermometer. mine reads 6.2 on the door and two degrees lower at the back

SS

lyophilised at room temp for 5 days in transit, worried or not

CC

light exposure matters much less than temperature for these. i still keep them in the carton

for flying, hand luggage every time. the hold is not temperature controlled the way people assume

AB

reconstituted solution is the fragile part. that is where the cold chain actually earns its keep

the door swings four or five degrees every time somebody opens it. the back barely moves

freeze debate again

freeze thaw cycling is the risk, not one freeze. that is my read of it anyway

hotel minibars are frequently not cold enough. i take a thermometer, which is ridiculous and also correct

🙏1

freezing reconstituted peptide is the one thing this channel has never agreed on

P2

a cooler with two gel packs held under eight degrees for eleven hours on a drive

AB

my fridge is running at 4, is that out of range
i left a reconstituted vial out overnight once, sent it for testing out of curiosity, it came back fine

AB

sorry to jump in i freeze aliquots and have had them test fine afterwards. others here would not do it and i understand why

is a five pound fridge thermometer actually worth it

SN

lyophilised powder is genuinely robust. a warm transit is far less likely to matter than people fear

unopened and in-use in the same place is fine. just keep the in-use one where you can reach it

SN

two to eight degrees. most domestic fridge doors are not in that range and people do not check

CC

if you are worried after a bad transit, test it. that is what the testing channels are for

solution is not

BW

right so i log the fridge temperature daily and the room has never let me forget it
