Highlights from this day
  • spare_vial — does the amber vial thing matter or is it marketing 17:52
  • spare_vial — unopened and in-use in the same place is fine. just keep the in-use one where you can reach it, someone check my working 17:53
  • motivation_gone — is a five pound fridge thermometer actually worth it 17:55
  • spare_vial — best travel setup for 19 days away with vials 19:55
  • karl_fischer — ok so hotel minibars are frequently not cold enough. i take a thermometer, which is ridiculous and also correct 20:11

a cooler with two gel packs held under eight degrees for eleven hours on a drive

PS

i left a reconstituted vial out overnight once, sent it for testing out of curiosity, it came back fine

power cut with the door shut for a few hours is fine. a full fridge holds temperature surprisingly well

do you log the fridge temperature or is that too far

if you are worried after a bad transit, test it. that is what the testing channels are for

FT

flying with vials, hand luggage or checked
lyophilised powder is genuinely robust. a warm transit is far less likely to matter than people fear

SV

buy a thermometer. mine reads 5.6 on the door and two degrees lower at the back

SV

i keep everything at the back of the middle shelf, never the door

*VendorInvestigate not the other one

FT

do i need to worry about light exposure or is that overthinking

power cut for 2 hours, fridge stayed shut, am i fine

sorry to jump in two to eight degrees. most domestic fridge doors are not in that range and people do not check

SV

i log the fridge temperature daily and the room has never let me forget it

a liquid cold pack tells you it was above freezing, not that your vial cooked

update from 23 months ago: replaced the fridge, temperature is stable, no more anxiety
buy a thermometer. mine reads 7.4 on the door and two degrees lower at the back

the door swings four or five degrees every time somebody opens it. the back barely moves

FT

how cold is too cold, can it actually freeze in a normal fridge
