Highlights from this day
  • chain_of_custody — a cooler with two gel packs held under eight degrees for eleven hours on a drive, from memory freezing reconstituted peptide is the one thing this channel has never… 12:49
  • fridge_thermo — the vial that visibly changed after a warm transit was the one that had already been reconstituted 13:04
  • one_data_point — i keep everything at the back of the middle shelf, never the door, we shall see 13:09

do you keep the unopened vials and the in-use one in the same place

coming back to this if you are worried after a bad transit, test it. that is what the testing channels are for, anyway

🔥1

light exposure matters much less than temperature for these. i still keep them in the carton

freezing reconstituted peptide is the one thing this channel has never agreed on

💀11📉13😂17

how cold is too cold, can it actually freeze in a normal fridge

AA

update from 12 months ago: replaced the fridge, temperature is stable, no more anxiety

the vial that visibly changed after a warm transit was the one that had already been reconstituted

mon 4.1 / door 7.2
tue 4.0 / door 7.8
wed 4.2 / door 6.9
thu 3.9 / door 7.4
fri 4.1 / door 8.1 <- shopping day
sat 4.3 / door 7.0
sun 4.0 / door 6.8

i have never had a lyophilised vial fail after a warm transit and i have had some bad ones

log it

CO

follow up a few hours at room temperature is almost certainly nothing. a week is a different conversation, ymmv

OD

freezing reconstituted peptide is the one thing this channel has never agreed on

the door swings four or five degrees every time somebody opens it. the back barely moves

i would use it

solution is not

📉1❤️4
BB

coming back to this for flying, hand luggage every time. the hold is not temperature controlled the way people assume

VB

Digest for the week of 2025-01-01 has been published.

FD

coming back to this coming back after 14 months, is the pinned storage table still current
a cooler with two gel packs held under eight degrees for eleven hours on a drive

DD

freeze thaw cycling is the risk, not one freeze. that is my read of it anyway

FD

coming back to this two to eight degrees. most domestic fridge doors are not in that range and people do not check

ok so the practical risk in winter shipping is freezing, and in summer it is heat. plan for the season you are in

AA

buy a thermometer. mine reads 4.8 on the door and two degrees lower at the back

CO

nobody here can tell you a vial is safe. we can tell you what has and has not survived for us

i log the fridge temperature daily and the room has never let me forget it

🧪2

best travel setup for 12 days away with vials

a liquid cold pack tells you it was above freezing, not that your vial cooked

lyophilised powder is genuinely robust. a warm transit is far less likely to matter than people fear, your mileage will differ
