Highlights from this day
  • lean_mass_lex — how cold is too cold, can it actually freeze in a normal fridge 21:18
  • seven_five_sweet — power cut with the door shut for a few hours is fine. a full fridge holds temperature surprisingly well 21:30
  • cold_start_cy — coming back after 24 months, is the pinned storage table still current 22:06
  • protein_floor — do you log the fridge temperature or is that too far 23:04
DO

quick one lyophilised powder is genuinely robust. a warm transit is far less likely to matter than people fear

thats fine

a cooler with two gel packs held under eight degrees for eleven hours on a drive

TT

hotel minibars are frequently not cold enough. i take a thermometer, which is ridiculous and also correct

the practical risk in winter shipping is freezing, and in summer it is heat. plan for the season you are in

my fridge is running at 6.2, is that out of range

LM

right so two to eight degrees. most domestic fridge doors are not in that range and people do not check

DO

the vial that visibly changed after a warm transit was the one that had already been reconstituted

update from 2 months ago: replaced the fridge, temperature is stable, no more anxiety

how long is reconstituted actually good for at room temperature

follow up anyone had a vial visibly change after a warm transit

TT

i freeze aliquots and have had them test fine afterwards. others here would not do it and i understand why

i have never had a lyophilised vial fail after a warm transit and i have had some bad ones, take that with a pinch of salt

LM

how cold is too cold, can it actually freeze in a normal fridge

two to eight

follow up if you are worried after a bad transit, test it. that is what the testing channels are for

*VendorInvestigate not the other one

SF

the door swings four or five degrees every time somebody opens it. the back barely moves

for the archive is a five pound fridge thermometer actually worth it

🔥1👀2
CS

a few hours at room temperature is almost certainly nothing. a week is a different conversation, i think

TT

freezing reconstituted peptide is the one thing this channel has never agreed on

a liquid cold pack tells you it was above freezing, not that your vial cooked, n of 1 obviously

coming back after 24 months, is the pinned storage table still current

📉13📈3
TT

freeze thaw cycling is the risk, not one freeze. that is my read of it anyway, i think

TT

i keep everything at the back of the middle shelf, never the door

not the freezer

🧪15
PF

buy a thermometer. mine reads 4.8 on the door and two degrees lower at the back

PF

i left a reconstituted vial out overnight once, sent it for testing out of curiosity, it came back fine

CS

while im here power cut for 2 hours, fridge stayed shut, am i fine
