Highlights from this day
  • sharps_bin_sid — the parcel is the risk you accepted. that is worth remembering before it becomes a crisis update from 23 months ago: New Zealand transit has got slower, consistently,… 12:34
  • gorse_gains — the same address every time is fine. a different address every time looks worse, not better, i could be wrong 13:38
  • gorse_gains — nobody here can tell you what will clear customs where you live and the mods stop that conversation quickly 13:40
  • night_pin — reship policies vary enormously. GGPeps honoured one for me without being pushed, which is not universal 13:53
  • night_pin — winter shipping into a cold country risks freezing, which is a different problem from heat and gets discussed less 13:58

update on the earlier thing is it worth paying for a faster service or does customs eat the difference

handling fee is the killer

the parcel is the risk you accepted. that is worth remembering before it becomes a crisis
update from 23 months ago: New Zealand transit has got slower, consistently, across four orders

ZZ

summer into a hot country is the risk. order in a cooler month if you have the choice

ok so parcel is sitting at a port with no movement, is that customs or just a port

GG

split shipments arriving weeks apart is normal and is usually a stock thing, not a customs thing, ask me again in a month

GG

paying for a faster service does not speed up customs. it speeds up the legs either side of customs

CC

the transit table is pinned and built from what members actually reported, not from what suppliers quote

GG

the same address every time is fine. a different address every time looks worse, not better, i could be wrong

for the archive anyone shipping into Singapore in summer and what do you do about it

NP

14 days to the Netherlands with working tracking the whole way is at the good end of what i have seen

reship policies vary enormously. GGPeps honoured one for me without being pushed, which is not universal

vat is usually charged on declared value plus shipping, and the handling fee is often more than the vat

tracking has been dark for 9 days, at what point do i worry

winter shipping into a cold country risks freezing, which is a different problem from heat and gets discussed less

🙏3

tracking going dark for a week or ten days at a port is common and resolves on its own most of the time

i declare it as what it is at a low value. we do not discuss wording beyond that here

customs charge came to €120, is that normal for New Zealand
