genuine question the jewellery scale is a good habit but calibrate it, they drift badly

FT

the last few units are a real loss. i accept it rather than tilting the vial and drawing air

anyone else find the 5mg vials harder to get fully dissolved than the small ones

gross powder mass is not net peptide. water and counterion are in that number

the vacuum will pull it in. let it. fighting it is how you get a face full of aerosol, ask me again in a month

Digest for the week of 2025-07-12 has been published.

label the date too. you will not remember which vial is which by week 12

*week 16 not week 8

read it at eye level

FT

coming back to this give it 7 minutes at room temperature before you decide it has not dissolved

FT

im getting bubbles in the barrel every single time, what am i doing wrong

🔥3
TF

aim the diluent at the glass wall, not at the powder. it goes in gentler

FT

a 3ml syringe for the diluent and a u100 for the dose is the setup most people here end up with

FT

swirl it. do not shake it. the foam is denatured protein and you are not getting it back

coming back after 5 months, has the pinned recon volume advice changed

16📉7😂11

15mg in 3ml is 5mg/ml. same numbers as 10 in 2, just more of it

slightly off topic but dead space in a standard insulin syringe hub is small but it is not nothing over a month
my rule is one concentration for everything so i never have to think about it at 7am

FU

quick one i keep a spare vial of bac water in the fridge purely so i never rush the maths

U-100 syringe: 1 unit = 0.01 ml
  10u = 0.10 ml
  25u = 0.25 ml
  50u = 0.50 ml
 100u = 1.00 ml
mg drawn = ml drawn x mg/ml

while im here is it normal for the cake to look slightly collapsed on one side

FU

30mg in 3ml is 10mg/ml, so 5mg is 50 units. half the barrel, feels like a lot but its right

LL

i write the mg/ml on the vial with a sharpie the moment i reconstitute it

the meniscus thing is real. read it at eye level or you are guessing by a unit either way

MM

i was wrong about this last year: it is fine to draw cold, it just stings more going in, i could be wrong

❤️7📉4
LL

do you let it come to room temp before drawing or draw it cold

😂1⚠️3

my vial pulled the water in on its own, is that the vacuum or did i do something

U1

took me a year to stop over-diluting. the measurement error at 4 units is worse than the convenience
bacteriostatic water for anything multi-use. sterile water has no preservative in it at all

EM

update on the earlier thing how much do i lose to dead space with a 31G pin

EM

10mg in 2ml is 5mg/ml. so 0.5mg is 0.1ml which is 10 units on a u100

EM

a slightly collapsed cake is cosmetic. a puddle in the bottom is not

🧊3👀1

thats the vacuum

EM

if the powder is on the stopper, tap it down before you add anything. it will still dissolve either way

[edited]

write the date on

LL

sorry to jump in does temperature of the bac water matter at all

TF

what do you do with the last 5 units when you cant draw them cleanly

pick the volume so your dose is a whole number of units. thats the entire trick

MM

one unit is 0.01ml. 100 units is 1ml. everything else in this channel follows from that

TF

update from 20 months ago: switched to a single concentration and have not miscalculated since

LT

it foamed. is it ruined
the meniscus thing is real. read it at eye level or you are guessing by a unit either way

PM

i use bac water even for a single-use vial because it stings less, which is not the reason it exists
