it should be completely clear with no floaters. cloudy means stop
weighing the vial before you reconstitute is the only way to catch an underfill

- juno_joins — coming back to this 10mg in 2ml is 5mg/ml. so 0.5mg is 0.1ml which is 10 units on a u100 15:53
- lot_number_lou — label the date too. you will not remember which vial is which by week 7 17:31
- mcg_not_mg — do i swirl for a specific length of time or just until its clear 17:35
- mg_per_ml — im getting bubbles in the barrel every single time, what am i doing wrong 21:38
30mg in 3ml is 10mg/ml, so 5mg is 50 units. half the barrel, feels like a lot but its right
i write the mg/ml on the vial with a sharpie the moment i reconstitute it
give it 8 minutes at room temperature before you decide it has not dissolved
pick the volume so your dose is a whole number of units. thats the entire trick
whats the smallest volume you would trust yourself to measure on a u100
15mg in 3ml is 5mg/ml. same numbers as 10 in 2, just more of it
thats fine
dead space
lyophilised powder is far more robust than people think. it is the solution that is fragile
quick one do you let it come to room temp before drawing or draw it cold
if the maths gives you 13.7 units, change the volume. do not try to hit 13.7
yep 10 units
why does everyone say 2ml specifically and not 1ml
foam is bad
if i add 0.5ml to a 20mg vial what concentration am i actually at
not sterile water
10mg in 1ml is 10mg/ml, so 2.5mg is 25 units. thats the one i use
my rule is one concentration for everything so i never have to think about it at 7am
quick one what do you do with the last 25 units when you cant draw them cleanly
i swirl for about thirty seconds and then leave it. never had one fail to dissolve
write the date on
it foamed. is it ruined
label the vial
for the archive is a slightly cloudy solution ever ok or is that always a bin it
5mg in 2ml gives 2.5mg/ml, 0.25mg is 10 units. good for a starting dose
how much do i lose to dead space with a 29G pin
one unit is 0.01ml
[edited]coming back to this 10mg in 2ml is 5mg/ml. so 0.5mg is 0.1ml which is 10 units on a u100
weigh it first
20mg in 2ml is 10mg/ml. 1mg is 10 units, 2mg is 20 units, easy
sanity check my maths before i pin myself with something stupid
i keep a spare vial of bac water in the fridge purely so i never rush the maths
clear or bin it
anyone worked out a recon volume that puts 2.5mg on a round unit mark
benzyl alcohol is what makes it bacteriostatic. it is about 0.9% typically
swirl it. do not shake it. the foam is denatured protein and you are not getting it back
one unit is 0.01ml. 100 units is 1ml. everything else in this channel follows from that
nobody here should be telling you a dose. we can check your arithmetic, thats a different thing
is there any reason not to just always use 2ml
label the date too. you will not remember which vial is which by week 7
the jewellery scale is a good habit but calibrate it, they drift badly
do i swirl for a specific length of time or just until its clear
Inter-lab diff for lot KP-0925: 99.4% vs 97.4%. Within expected range.
ok so the vacuum will pull it in. let it. fighting it is how you get a face full of aerosol
does benzyl alcohol matter if im finishing the vial in one go
[edited]thats 5mg/ml
is it worth buying a 3ml syringe for the diluent or is the insulin one fine
a 3ml syringe for the diluent and a u100 for the dose is the setup most people here end up with
if you draw up with a bigger pin and inject with a fresh one you lose a bit more to dead space
i have never once regretted using a rounder number and a slightly bigger volume
im getting bubbles in the barrel every single time, what am i doing wrong
