Highlights from this day
  • step_one_sian — lyophilised powder is far more robust than people think. it is the solution that is fragile 5mg in 2ml gives 2.5mg/ml, 0.25mg is 10 units. good for a starting dose 21:43
  • step_one_sian — unrelated but i keep a spare vial of bac water in the fridge purely so i never rush the maths 5mg in 2ml gives 2.5mg/ml, 0.25mg is 10 units. good for a starting dose 21:47
  • step_one_sian — does it matter if i inject the bac water straight at the powder 21:51
  • triple_ag_tom — update on the earlier thing i was wrong about this last year: it is fine to draw cold, it just stings more going in, from memory 22:05
  • VialBot — Digest for the week of 2024-01-01 has been published. 22:23
SO

coming back to this does benzyl alcohol matter if im finishing the vial in one go

i swirl for about thirty seconds and then leave it. never had one fail to dissolve, i have it written down somewhere

U-100 syringe: 1 unit = 0.01 ml
  10u = 0.10 ml
  25u = 0.25 ml
  50u = 0.50 ml
 100u = 1.00 ml
mg drawn = ml drawn x mg/ml

the meniscus thing is real. read it at eye level or you are guessing by a unit either way

TA

update on the earlier thing i was wrong about this last year: it is fine to draw cold, it just stings more going in, from memory

SO

weighing the vial before you reconstitute is the only way to catch an underfill

you can absolutely just always use 2ml, and honestly most of us should

if i add 2.5ml to a 5mg vial what concentration am i actually at

5mg in 2ml gives 2.5mg/ml, 0.25mg is 10 units. good for a starting dose

SO

coming back after 16 months, has the pinned recon volume advice changed

if the powder is on the stopper, tap it down before you add anything. it will still dissolve either way, thats one data point
