mood dipped hard around week 28, did that lift for anyone
#mental-health 2025-12-02
grieving food is real. it was my hobby, my comfort and about half of my social life
my partner was not pleased at first and came round. what changed it was my blood pressure, not any argument i made, thats one data point
the identity part is the hardest thing about this and it gets talked about least, which is backwards
i told my family at month four rather than week one, and the timing is what made it go well
the shame eased when i stopped thinking of it as a shortcut and started thinking of it as treatment
does the quiet in your head ever feel like a loss rather than a relief
i measured my waist and my walking pace during the plateau because both were still moving when the scale wasnt
we are a chat channel. good company, not clinicians, and it matters that we keep saying so
same at week 5
thank you for saying it
is anyone else more anxious about running out than about any side effect
were not clinicians
[edited]i feel like a fraud reading the wins channel, does that go away
if all you managed today was the dose and some water, that counts and i mean that
im moving up on thursday and i have been dreading it since sunday. is that normal
completely. i had a proper knot in my stomach before every single step
the anticipation was worse than the dose four times out of five for me
the one time out of five is the bit im scared of
fair
what helped me was moving on a friday so the worst 48 hours were mine and not my employers
friday injection is the most repeated practical tip in the whole archive i think
i also stopped making the step a big event. i used to clear my calendar and stare at the pen for an hour
now i do it while the kettle boils and forget about it. genuinely reduced the dread by half
the kettle method
and if it goes badly you can hold. holding is not losing
holding is not losing. write it on something
different flavour of the same problem. im 14 weeks into a plateau and my motivation has completely gone
not the eating. the caring. i havent lifted in a month and i dont mind, which is the worrying part
not minding is the signal, yeah
14 weeks is long enough to stop being a plateau and start being a mood thing. mine did the same at 11
what got you out
honestly, someone in here asked me to report back on wednesdays. thats it. an appointment with strangers
id take that actually
then thats set. wednesdays. one line, doesnt have to be good news
recurring reminder created for @ema_vs_national: wednesdays, 19:00 UTC, #mental-health. reply stop to cancel.
well now im accountable to a robot
the robot is the least judgemental member here and thats saying something
also worth saying, a stalled scale and a flat mood feed each other and its very hard to tell which one started
and its very easy to blame the dose when the actual problem is that its february and youre exhausted
february is a documented side effect
changing the subject slightly, can i thank people. i wrote in here about a year ago in a bad state
i wasnt asking about doses. i was asking whether it was worth carrying on with any of it
i remember
two people replied for about three hours that night and one of them told me to ring my GP in the morning, which i did
im not going to pretend the drug fixed my head. the GP and eleven months of work did most of it
that distinction is the most useful sentence in this channel this year
very glad you rang
and @ema_vs_national — the flat plateau thing you described is almost word for word where i was. it does move
ok. wednesday then
