Highlights from this day
  • adelaide_assay — hold on if you can. week three is not the whole experience and a lot of us nearly stopped right there 09:19
  • mira_pins — my mood dipped around week five and lifted by about week ten. i cannot tell you why either of those happened 10:56
  • mira_pins — i get anxious the night before a dose increase, so i take it in the morning now and sleep first 15:32
  • slow.taper — slightly off topic but we are a chat channel. good company, not clinicians, and it matters that we keep saying so 16:26

sorry to jump in the running out anxiety is real and worth naming. i keep a spare month in the fridge and i sleep better for it
flat is the word i used too. not sad exactly, just less colour in things for a while

MP

i asked one relative to stop commenting. it was awkward for a week and it was worth it

it is a loss as well as a relief and you are allowed to say both of those things

it does lift

i came back at month 1 to say thank you and got a much warmer response than i expected

[edited]

slightly off topic but is anyone else more anxious about running out than about any side effect
the running out anxiety is real and worth naming. i keep a spare month in the fridge and i sleep better for it

i spent twenty years negotiating with myself about food and then the negotiation just stopped, and that took months to sit with

AA

hold on if you can. week three is not the whole experience and a lot of us nearly stopped right there

🔥3❤️11📉3

be kind to yourself

the food noise going quiet is the thing people are least prepared for. i sat in the kitchen at 8pm not knowing what i was for

right so i see somebody professionally about the eating side of this and it is the best money i have spent on any of it

AA

grieving food is real. it was my hobby, my comfort and about half of my social life

VO

you are not the only person in here who has felt that, and i say that as somebody who was certain they were

not the easy way

VO

the disorienting bit for me was realising how much of my day had been spent thinking about the next meal

AD

the shame eased when i stopped thinking of it as a shortcut and started thinking of it as treatment

MP

my mood dipped around week five and lifted by about week ten. i cannot tell you why either of those happened

AD

nobody in this room thinks less of you for needing a medication. genuinely nobody, n of 1 obviously

AA

somebody said the easy way thing to me and i just said it was not easy and changed the subject. it worked fine

MP

flat is the word i used too. not sad exactly, just less colour in things for a while

how do you deal with somebody saying you took the easy way

AA

did the flatness lift on its own or did people have to do something about it

thinking of you

UU

you are not a fraud. you took a treatment and it worked. that really is the whole story

coming back after 26 months to say thank you, is that alright to do in here

i told my family at month four rather than week one, and the timing is what made it go well

AD

the food noise went completely quiet and i dont know what to do with the silence, is that normal

GC

how do you tell family youre on this without getting a lecture back

AD

the identity part is the hardest thing about this and it gets talked about least, which is backwards, ill dig out the number

MP

i get anxious the night before a dose increase, so i take it in the morning now and sleep first

MP

i cook more now than i used to, i just eat less of it, and that compromise saved that part of me

youre not alone in that

ST

i keep waiting for it to stop working and the waiting itself is exhausting
