#maintenance 2026-04-26

Sunday41 messages10 participantstimes are UTC
Highlights from this day
  • tarpit_tam — completely off the map. that doesnt make it dangerous, it makes it unstudied. those are different words and people swap them 16:30
  • tarpit_tam — the reason it isnt absurd is the half-life. about a week means a fortnightly schedule still leaves you with meaningful drug on board at day 14 16:40
  • bengaluru_bac — respect for saying it straight 17:47
  • coa_or_cope — yeah. #mental-health has a whole conversation about the silence going away 18:09
  • bengaluru_bac — fair. im staying weekly and lowering the dose instead 18:20

does anyone budget for maintenance being cheaper or is it the same £240 a month

lower frequency maintenance is genuinely unstudied. anybody telling you it is proven is making that up

two or three kilos up and down is normal fluctuation. ten is a different conversation

NT

follow up i weigh weekly at maintenance rather than daily and my range is about two kilos either side

for the archive i think about it the way i think about my blood pressure tablet, and that framing helped me more than anything else, i think

RT

if you find maintenance harder than the losing part you are in the majority in this room

VB

Purity check: no report on file for lot KP-0925. Nothing logged either way.

there is no official maintenance dose. it is a thing we do because the alternative on the table was stopping

BB

question for the channel. anyone doing every other week rather than a lower weekly dose

TT

before the anecdotes arrive, let me say the boring thing once. there is no trial data on this. none

not a small trial, not a subgroup, not a secondary endpoint. every registration programme is fixed weekly dosing

TT

completely off the map. that doesnt make it dangerous, it makes it unstudied. those are different words and people swap them

CO

for most of us yes. halving the frequency halves the bill and maintenance is the part you pay for forever

TT

maintenance as a research question is badly underfunded relative to how many people are in it. thats my opinion not a fact

CO

the thing that made maintenance work for me wasnt the dose, it was the lifting

i went from nothing to twice a week during the loss phase and i am convinced it is why my floor is where it is

CO

none that would survive this channel. my own body and a mirror

TT

the general principle has decades behind it though. resistance training defends lean mass during energy deficit, that part isnt controversial

what is unknown is how much of the lean mass loss in the GLP-1 trials would have been prevented by structured training, because the trials didnt do that

TT

in the imaging substudies its a meaningful share of total mass lost, broadly in line with what youd expect from any comparable weight loss. see #food-and-training, theres a longer version there

MG

not hunger. hunger i can handle. the running commentary coming back is the horrible bit

TT

i say i dont know, nobody knows, and anyone who sounds certain is selling something or hasnt read anything
