Highlights from this day
  • taper_tess — there is no trial on every ten days or every fortnight. people here do it and report on it and that is all we have 15:51
  • mira_pins — update on the earlier thing i set a trigger weight instead of a target. if i cross it i go up a rung. that is my entire plan 17:17
  • taper_tess — i weigh weekly at maintenance rather than daily and my range is about two kilos either side, from memory 17:53
  • sgp_subq — update on the earlier thing dropping to a maintenance dose was uneventful for me and completely miserable for somebody i talk to weekly 19:51
VL

the maintenance conversation barely existed in here two years ago and now it is half the channel

lift twice a week

🔥7🧪8

mine didnt hold

⚠️2

protein up not down

VL

i came off for four months, put 35 back on, and came back. no drama in it, just numbers

MP

is a maintenance dose a real clinical thing or something we invented between us

VL

holidays at maintenance are fine, i take the dose on the day and stop thinking about it, not advice obviously

VL

quick one does anyone budget for maintenance being cheaper or is it the same £55 a month

RR

a 10mg vial at a 2mg maintenance dose is five weeks of doses, so my monthly cost roughly halved

m0 118.4
m1 113.9
m2 110.2
m3 108.8
m4 108.1 <- the stall
m5 105.0
m6 101.6
m7 99.2
RR

stopped 16 months ago and put 38 back on, what did people do at that point

TT

i went to every ten days at a low dose and it held for me. n of 1, and i keep saying that out loud, i have it written down somewhere

is this forever or is that just how it feels at month 24

📉18

slightly off topic but did anyone regret dropping the dose too fast

no official dose

food noise coming back at a lower dose settled again after about four weeks for me

appetite came back over about three weeks after i reduced, not all at once, which is what i had braced for

whats your rule for when a fluctuation becomes a regain

3😂13

set a trigger weight

protein went up during maintenance for me rather than down, which was completely counterintuitive

FF

appetite returning is not the drug failing, it is the drug doing less because you are taking less of it

quick one how much regain did people get in the first 5 months after stopping

m0 118.4
m1 113.9
m2 110.2
m3 108.8
m4 108.1 <- the stall
m5 105.0
m6 101.6
m7 99.2

the muscle question is the one i wish i had taken seriously at month two instead of month twelve

TT

FLOW is the one where they stopped and it came back isnt it, has anyone read the actual numbers

MP

update on the earlier thing i set a trigger weight instead of a target. if i cross it i go up a rung. that is my entire plan

TT

maintenance is harder than losing because there is no number going down to keep you interested

🎉16

went back up, no regrets

i weigh weekly at maintenance rather than daily and my range is about two kilos either side, from memory

MP

im holding at 15 for maintenance and wondering whether i should be lower

MP

while im here how do people handle a two week holiday at a maintenance dose

TT

there is no official maintenance dose. it is a thing we do because the alternative on the table was stopping, ymmv
coming down too fast was my mistake. top rung to the bottom rung inside a month and it was a bad month

nobody here can tell you whether to stop. we can tell you what happened to us when we did, your mileage will differ

SS

resistance training two or three times a week is what the room converged on and it is not glamorous

SS

if you find maintenance harder than the losing part you are in the majority in this room

👍5

i tried to come down and could not hold it, went back to treatment dose, and stopped apologising for it

SS

does anyone lift specifically to hold onto muscle now that theyre maintaining

two or three kilos up and down is normal fluctuation. ten is a different conversation

SS

i put 8 back on after stopping and then went back on it. it worked the same the second time round

i think about it the way i think about my blood pressure tablet, and that framing helped me more than anything else

PB

lower frequency maintenance is genuinely unstudied. anybody telling you it is proven is making that up, ask me again in a month

SS

update on the earlier thing dropping to a maintenance dose was uneventful for me and completely miserable for somebody i talk to weekly

PP

sorry to jump in did anyone drop the dose for maintenance or just stay where they were

PP

cost did not drop at maintenance for me because i went to a lower dose from the same vial and just used it slower, i think

PP

coming down too fast was my mistake. top rung to the bottom rung inside a month and it was a bad month, your mileage will differ
