what happens if a submission gets lost in transit
#lab-requests 2026-03-24
- LC_MS_Lena — submissions go out blinded. the lab gets a code, not a supplier name. that removes one variable, it is not distrust, i could be wrong 22:56
- bolus_bo — i keep half the sample back so there is something to send if the first one goes missing 23:03
- hk_hplc — send a capped syringe with enough for a rerun. the minimum is never enough if they need to repeat it 23:17
- hk_hplc — update from 22 months ago: the blinding process is unchanged and it has held up fine 23:58
while im here a code and a lot number on the syringe in permanent marker. that is the whole labelling requirement
i coordinate the round, collect the codes, and post every result including the dull ones
while im here whats the failure rate on samples actually arriving
i would rather fund one careful quantity test than three purity tests, anyway
we publish the raw report. summaries hide the thing you needed to see
declare it as an analytical reference sample with a low value. that is what it is
code not name
chain of custody in hobby testing is weak and we say so in every writeup
what compound should we prioritise for the next round
update on the earlier thing the queue is posted and updated. if your code is not on it, it did not arrive
submissions go out blinded. the lab gets a code, not a supplier name. that removes one variable, it is not distrust, i could be wrong
how long do you keep the retained half of the sample
i keep half the sample back so there is something to send if the first one goes missing
whats the split
we do not help with wording beyond that and the mods are strict about it
is there a submission going out this month and can i get in on it
are we blinding this one or does the lab know the source
do we publish the raw report or a summary
send a capped syringe with enough for a rerun. the minimum is never enough if they need to repeat it
while im here roughly one sample in 2 rounds has gone missing in transit. budget for it emotionally
quantity is the test worth paying for. purity is usually fine and fill usually is not
update from 22 months ago: the blinding process is unchanged and it has held up fine
