#lab-requests 2025-10-11

Saturday26 messages6 participantstimes are UTC
Highlights from this day
  • no_appetite_nia — turnaround has been between 12 days and twice that depending on the queue 22:58
  • dublin_dose — VendorInvestigate has been the fastest for us. Janoshik has been the most detailed. those are not the same lab 23:07
  • tail_factor — the split works from about 4 people. below that everyone pays more than the test is worth 23:14
  • tail_factor — if you want to know about your vial, you have to submit your vial. that is the whole answer 23:16
  • swirl_not_shake — submissions go out blinded. the lab gets a code, not a supplier name. that removes one variable, it is not distrust 23:30

do i send a syringe or the whole vial

i keep half the sample back so there is something to send if the first one goes missing

we have never had a lab mix up a sample. we have had members mix up their own labelling twice

the split works from about 4 people. below that everyone pays more than the test is worth

label the syringe

coordinating this round

SC

two labs on the same lot is a luxury but it is how we learned what inter-lab variance looks like

chain of custody in hobby testing is weak and we say so in every writeup

SN

submissions go out blinded. the lab gets a code, not a supplier name. that removes one variable, it is not distrust

i would rather fund one careful quantity test than three purity tests

what happens if a submission gets lost in transit

🧪1

powder if you can. reconstituted travels worse and adds a variable we cannot control

LM

quantity is the test worth paying for. purity is usually fine and fill usually is not

do we publish the raw report or a summary

whats the wording on the customs declaration for a sample

we publish the raw report. summaries hide the thing you needed to see
