do you count to five before withdrawing

- provincial_pat — update from 13 months ago: switched to a fixed rotation and the site reactions stopped, take that with a pinch of salt 20:24
- quiet_head_qi — drawing up with the same pin you inject with is fine, it just dulls the tip slightly 21:29
- mira_pins — i keep the sharps bin next to the fridge so the whole thing happens in one place 22:13
never recap a used pin. that is how people stick themselves

small bubble is fine
let it dry
90 degrees works fine if you have the tissue for it. 45 if you do not
i changed nothing except letting the swab dry and the stinging stopped completely
do you aspirate, or is that only an intramuscular thing
i keep getting a small welt at the site, technique or reaction
pinch, 45 degrees, count to five, withdraw slowly. two years and almost no bruising
rotate
i have eight sites and an eight week rotation. it is written on the fridge
a small air bubble subcutaneously is not dangerous. it costs you dose accuracy, thats the reason to clear it
Verification log updated: KP — evidence added, status unchanged.
thats a reaction
31G 8mm
while im here nobody here should be telling you where to inject. we can tell you what we do
if you are getting a lot of bruising, look at how fast you are pushing before you blame the needle
sharps bin
pinch
the needle went in fine but it stung going in, alcohol or the compound
drawing up with the same pin you inject with is fine, it just dulls the tip slightly
ok so warming the vial in your hand for a minute is the cheapest comfort improvement there is
[edited]sorry to jump in whats your sharps disposal setup, mine is a jar and i know thats wrong
coming back after 20 months, has the pinned technique guide changed
i inject the back of my own arm and it is awkward but doable with a mirror
i keep the sharps bin next to the fridge so the whole thing happens in one place
update on the earlier thing a fresh pin for the injection hurts less. whether thats worth the extra dead space is your call
while im here a proper sharps bin costs almost nothing and pharmacies will take it back

do not reuse pins. it is not about sterility so much as the tip being blunt after one pass
welts at the site are usually a mild local reaction and rotation sorts it, thats one data point

push slowly. fast is what causes the ache afterwards, i have it written down somewhere
pinch, 45 degrees, count to five, withdraw slowly. two years and almost no bruising, i think
i mark the rotation in a notes app because the marks fade and i lost track twice
coming back to this thats normal
cold from the fridge genuinely stings more. i let it sit out for ten minutes
