Highlights from this day
  • pin29g — while im here 31G 8mm for everything. i tried the 12.7mm once and never went back 19:33
  • adelaide_assay — welts at the site are usually a mild local reaction and rotation sorts it 19:45
  • pinch_not_stretch — do you change the pin between drawing up and injecting 20:13
  • VialBot — New independent result logged — HJ, lot KP-0925, purity 98.1% (Janoshik). 21:00
  • tga_notice — coming back to this a small air bubble subcutaneously is not dangerous. it costs you dose accuracy, thats the reason to clear it 22:14
KM

i mark the rotation in a notes app because the marks fade and i lost track twice

KM

drawing up with the same pin you inject with is fine, it just dulls the tip slightly

PN

i keep the sharps bin next to the fridge so the whole thing happens in one place

update from 4 months ago: switched to a fixed rotation and the site reactions stopped

SS

cold from the fridge genuinely stings more. i let it sit out for ten minutes

SS

i changed nothing except letting the swab dry and the stinging stopped completely

SS

do you use the insulin syringe for both drawing and injecting

pinch

ok so a fresh pin for the injection hurts less. whether thats worth the extra dead space is your call
bleeding a little means you nicked a small vessel. it is not a technique failure

AA

welts at the site are usually a mild local reaction and rotation sorts it

*Janoshik not the other one

P2

do not reuse pins. it is not about sterility so much as the tip being blunt after one pass

P2

pinch, 45 degrees, count to five, withdraw slowly. two years and almost no bruising

do you count to five before withdrawing

the difference between 29G and 31G is real but small. the difference between wet and dry alcohol is not small
let the alcohol dry. that is ninety percent of "my injections sting"

📈1

*that should say weekly

45 degrees

how do you avoid hitting the same spot twice when the marks fade

AP

abdomen two inches out from the navel, avoiding anything that has been injected in the last month

KM

do you aspirate, or is that only an intramuscular thing

❤️11😂3
TT

while im here never recap a used pin. that is how people stick themselves

if you are getting a lot of bruising, look at how fast you are pushing before you blame the needle

KM

a proper sharps bin costs almost nothing and pharmacies will take it back

VB

New independent result logged — HJ, lot KP-0925, purity 98.1% (Janoshik).

SS

warming the vial in your hand for a minute is the cheapest comfort improvement there is

nobody here should be telling you where to inject. we can tell you what we do

KM

i bled a bit, is that a needle depth thing
a fresh pin for the injection hurts less. whether thats worth the extra dead space is your call

90 degrees works fine if you have the tissue for it. 45 if you do not

TN

bleeding a little means you nicked a small vessel. it is not a technique failure
