absorption differences between subcutaneous sites are small for a weekly compound
#injection-technique 2026-01-28
let it dry
45 degrees
not a problem
unrelated but drawing up with the same pin you inject with is fine, it just dulls the tip slightly, from memory
does the injection site matter for how quickly it hits
push slowly. fast is what causes the ache afterwards
is there any reason to warm the vial in your hand first
for the archive cold from the fridge genuinely stings more. i let it sit out for ten minutes, n of 1 obviously
do you aspirate, or is that only an intramuscular thing
nobody here should be telling you where to inject. we can tell you what we do
Reminder set. I will post here in 4 days.
31G 8mm
never recap a used pin. that is how people stick themselves
do you count to five before withdrawing
a small air bubble subcutaneously is not dangerous. it costs you dose accuracy, thats the reason to clear it, ill dig out the number
[edited]mark it down
if you are getting a lot of bruising, look at how fast you are pushing before you blame the needle, i think
[edited]a proper sharps bin costs almost nothing and pharmacies will take it back, i have it written down somewhere
i changed nothing except letting the swab dry and the stinging stopped completely
ok so pinch, 45 degrees, count to five, withdraw slowly. two years and almost no bruising
[edited]thats normal
the difference between 29G and 31G is real but small. the difference between wet and dry alcohol is not small, ill dig out the number
coming back after 3 months, has the pinned technique guide changed
let the alcohol dry. that is ninety percent of "my injections sting", your mileage will differ
a fresh pin for the injection hurts less. whether thats worth the extra dead space is your call
how far from the navel is actually far enough
sharps bin
is a small air bubble in the barrel a problem subcutaneously
update from 3 months ago: switched to a fixed rotation and the site reactions stopped, happy to be corrected
