Highlights from this day
  • sharps_bin_sid — if you are getting a lot of bruising, look at how fast you are pushing before you blame the needle 16:18
  • appetite_back — welts at the site are usually a mild local reaction and rotation sorts it never recap a used pin. that is how people stick themselves 17:35
  • van_isle_vial — do you aspirate, or is that only an intramuscular thing 17:48

do not reuse pins. it is not about sterility so much as the tip being blunt after one pass, n of 1 obviously

warming the vial in your hand for a minute is the cheapest comfort improvement there is

update from 25 months ago: switched to a fixed rotation and the site reactions stopped, we shall see

LT

nobody here should be telling you where to inject. we can tell you what we do, thats just me

sorry to jump in a proper sharps bin costs almost nothing and pharmacies will take it back

i keep the sharps bin next to the fridge so the whole thing happens in one place, for what its worth

45 degrees

genuine question i have eight sites and an eight week rotation. it is written on the fridge

i mark the rotation in a notes app because the marks fade and i lost track twice

do you count to five before withdrawing

not a problem

do not aspirate for a subcutaneous injection, there is nothing to aspirate for

🎉1

coming back after 19 months, has the pinned technique guide changed

31G 8mm for everything. i tried the 12.7mm once and never went back

NA

bleeding a little means you nicked a small vessel. it is not a technique failure

SB

pinch, 45 degrees, count to five, withdraw slowly. two years and almost no bruising

TT

a fresh pin for the injection hurts less. whether thats worth the extra dead space is your call, from memory

welts at the site are usually a mild local reaction and rotation sorts it
never recap a used pin. that is how people stick themselves

AB

the difference between 29G and 31G is real but small. the difference between wet and dry alcohol is not small

is a small air bubble in the barrel a problem subcutaneously

drawing up with the same pin you inject with is fine, it just dulls the tip slightly

*Janoshik not the other one

let it dry

do you aspirate, or is that only an intramuscular thing
