Highlights from this day
  • rotate_the_site — the difference between 29G and 31G is real but small. the difference between wet and dry alcohol is not small 07:32
  • luerlok — i mark the rotation in a notes app because the marks fade and i lost track twice 07:44
  • rotate_the_site — do you use the insulin syringe for both drawing and injecting 08:08
  • rotate_the_site — genuine question pinch, 45 degrees, count to five, withdraw slowly. two years and almost no bruising 09:50
  • rotate_the_site — never recap a used pin. that is how people stick themselves 10:28
SA

abdomen two inches out from the navel, avoiding anything that has been injected in the last month, n of 1 obviously

not a problem

BB

absorption differences between subcutaneous sites are small for a weekly compound

SA

a small air bubble subcutaneously is not dangerous. it costs you dose accuracy, thats the reason to clear it

BB

nobody here should be telling you where to inject. we can tell you what we do

LU

a fresh pin for the injection hurts less. whether thats worth the extra dead space is your call

cold from the fridge genuinely stings more. i let it sit out for ten minutes

90 degrees or 45

[edited]

bleeding a little means you nicked a small vessel. it is not a technique failure

LU

31G 8mm for everything. i tried the 12.7mm once and never went back

RT

sorry to jump in if you are getting a lot of bruising, look at how fast you are pushing before you blame the needle

FN

do not reuse pins. it is not about sterility so much as the tip being blunt after one pass

push slowly. fast is what causes the ache afterwards

sharps bin

do you use the insulin syringe for both drawing and injecting

update from 24 months ago: switched to a fixed rotation and the site reactions stopped

technique probably

RT

do not aspirate for a subcutaneous injection, there is nothing to aspirate for, thats just me
