Highlights from this day
  • LC_MS_Lena — push slowly. fast is what causes the ache afterwards 16:23
  • VialBot — Batch lookup G-0641: 3 independent reports on file, earliest 2024-02-27. 18:17
  • chlorhex — warming the vial in your hand for a minute is the cheapest comfort improvement there is drawing up with the same pin you inject with is fine, it just dulls the tip… 21:08
  • rotate_the_site — i mark the rotation in a notes app because the marks fade and i lost track twice 21:29
LM

do not reuse pins. it is not about sterility so much as the tip being blunt after one pass

LM

a fresh pin for the injection hurts less. whether thats worth the extra dead space is your call

push slowly. fast is what causes the ache afterwards

🧊3🙏1

do you use the insulin syringe for both drawing and injecting

try the thigh

DD

genuine question do you change the pin between drawing up and injecting

if you are getting a lot of bruising, look at how fast you are pushing before you blame the needle

EE

absorption differences between subcutaneous sites are small for a weekly compound

nobody here should be telling you where to inject. we can tell you what we do

LM

sorry to jump in a proper sharps bin costs almost nothing and pharmacies will take it back

AT

drawing up with the same pin you inject with is fine, it just dulls the tip slightly

AT

cold from the fridge genuinely stings more. i let it sit out for ten minutes

pinch, 45 degrees, count to five, withdraw slowly. two years and almost no bruising

VB

Batch lookup G-0641: 3 independent reports on file, earliest 2024-02-27.

RT

update from 21 months ago: switched to a fixed rotation and the site reactions stopped

i keep the sharps bin next to the fridge so the whole thing happens in one place

BS

i changed nothing except letting the swab dry and the stinging stopped completely

dont recap

never recap a used pin. that is how people stick themselves

EE

genuine question do not aspirate for a subcutaneous injection, there is nothing to aspirate for

BS

the difference between 29G and 31G is real but small. the difference between wet and dry alcohol is not small

CH

drawing up with the same pin you inject with is fine, it just dulls the tip slightly

CH

welts at the site are usually a mild local reaction and rotation sorts it

RT

i mark the rotation in a notes app because the marks fade and i lost track twice
