#food-and-training 2026-01-23

Friday30 messages10 participantstimes are UTC
Highlights from this day
  • tail_factor — the risk with fast loss is lean mass, and the two things that touch it are protein and resistance work 20:39
  • declared_value — protein per meal matters more than per day once you are eating tiny amounts. i aim for 30 grams a sitting 20:40
  • mg_per_ml — electrolytes made a real difference to my headaches, and a pinch of salt in water goes a long way before you buy anything 20:48
  • thirty_min_wait — resistance training is not optional if you care what you look like at the end of this. my opinion, held strongly 21:31
  • luerlok — electrolytes, is that just salt in water or do i need the sachets 21:34
EE

ok so how do you get 30 grams of protein into a breakfast you can actually finish

EE

at 90kg and 1.6 per kg you are looking at 144 grams. i have never once hit it on a bad appetite week

genuinely, eat more. nobody here will congratulate you for 700 calories and we have all watched somebody get hurt by it

add salt

EE

i lift three times a week and my lifts dropped about ten percent while losing, then came back up

CS

i cook normally and freeze it in small pots. the food is unchanged, the portion is the only difference

EE

how many grams of protein are people actually hitting at 80kg

EE

is 1.6 grams per kg the number everyone uses or did we make that up

30 a sitting

is greek yoghurt actually as good as everyone in here says

PM

coming back after 16 months, what did people change about food that stuck

VB

Batch lookup C-4402: 9 independent reports on file, earliest 2025-11-29.

bioimpedance scales are a mood ring. they track how hydrated you are more than anything about fat

electrolytes made a real difference to my headaches, and a pinch of salt in water goes a long way before you buy anything

target weight 75kg
1.6 g/kg = 120 g/day
1.8 g/kg = 135 g/day
spread over 4 feeds = 30-34 g each
which with no appetite is the actual problem

two sessions a week

if you are at 700 calories a day that is the thing to fix before anything else. please eat more

TF

fibre from food first, psyllium if food is not doing it. i went straight to the sachets and regretted it

TM

resistance training is not optional if you care what you look like at the end of this. my opinion, held strongly

update from 25 months ago: fixed my protein, the fatigue lifted, and i cannot prove those two are connected

LU

electrolytes, is that just salt in water or do i need the sachets

TM

160 grams a day sounds enormous until you notice a chicken breast is 30 and a shake is 25

cold food is easier
