update from 6 months ago: nothing changed on reimbursement where i am and the price went up anyway
#eu 2025-09-17
- deadspace — sorry to jump in has anyone crossed a border specifically to buy it 11:10
- madrid_mg — has anyone found a national scheme that actually covers this 11:12
- madrid_mg — i order about six weeks ahead because a customs delay inside the eu still cost me 8 days once 11:32
- fibre_first — netherlands was reported in here at around 200 euros a month out of pocket a year or so ago, with conditions attached to any reimbursement 11:39
- snac_and_water — right so german pharmacies will order in what they do not stock. mine took three working days when i asked in 2024 12:14
anyone in sweden or denmark want to compare notes
what happens if a parcel gets picked up entering the eu
a german member reported paying around 300 euros a month privately in 2024. one person, one dose, one pharmacy
in germany the split is privat versus kasse. a private prescription means you pay the pharmacy price yourself and when i checked last year that was a lot, we shall see
pharmacy prices in germany were fairly uniform when i checked because of how they are regulated. in spain they varied much more
my last customs bill was about twenty two percent of declared value plus a fixed handling charge that hurt more than the tax did
sorry to jump in has anyone crossed a border specifically to buy it
[edited]has anyone found a national scheme that actually covers this
genuine question is it reimbursed anywhere in the eu or is it private everywhere
send both languages
the price for the same dose in two eu countries differed by about forty percent in the one careful comparison i have seen in here, thats one data point
i order about six weeks ahead because a customs delay inside the eu still cost me 8 days once
poland pricing, has anyone compared it against germany
spain, is it pharmacy only and what does it come to
slightly off topic but anyone compared the price for the same dose in two eu countries properly
how does a pharmacy handle it if you have no local insurance at all
netherlands was reported in here at around 200 euros a month out of pocket a year or so ago, with conditions attached to any reimbursement
the language thing improved a lot when i stopped using idioms, and that was the actual fix
nordic prices look brutal, is that real or is that just what gets reported
vat on imports from outside the eu applied from a very low threshold when i last imported, and the carrier handling fee was bigger than the vat
handling fee is worse than vat
that is the thing people get wrong constantly. approved and paid for are two completely different processes in the eu
a member reported reimbursement under a national scheme for diabetes and flatly not for weight, and that was the pattern across several countries
that was 2024 pricing
right so german pharmacies will order in what they do not stock. mine took three working days when i asked in 2024
nordics are brutal
coming back after 24 months, has anything changed on reimbursement anywhere
how are people managing when support only speaks one language and it isnt yours
you can carry a personal quantity between eu countries in practice. the rules on quantity and prescription vary and i would not rely on my reading of them
poland was cheapest
i had one pharmacy in another eu country refuse a foreign prescription and one accept it, same month, same paperwork
germany, whats the actual difference in cost between a private and a statutory prescription
vat on imports from outside the eu applied from a very low threshold when i last imported, and the carrier handling fee was bigger than the vat
i was wrong about the cross border prescription rules and a pharmacist corrected me in person, which was humbling
is vat charged on a parcel coming into the eu and how much are we talking
cross border in theory
write simple english
approval isnt reimbursement
privat means you pay
reported by members, own currency, not comparable directly
private clinic, UK 145 - 220
statutory, DE 10 co-pay
private script, DE 180 - 240
pharmacy, PL 95 - 140
pharmacy, SE 210 - 260follow up the language barrier with support is real. i write in short plain english and it works better than good english does, n of 1 obviously
my last customs bill was about twenty two percent of declared value plus a fixed handling charge that hurt more than the tax did
diabetes yes weight no
slightly off topic but how do you deal with a supplier whose support is in one language only
coming back to this can you legally buy in one eu country and take it to another
i keep a note of what i paid each month because the number moves and my memory of it does not
transit inside the eu was 24 days for me door to door, which is faster than anything i have had from outside it
nobody here can tell you what is legal in your country and the mods stop that conversation early
