Highlights from this day
  • cold_chain_cmdr — whats the related substances table actually telling me 17:30
  • retention_time — does anyone keep a folder of certificates to compare over time 19:02
  • retention_time — my 40mg vial weighed more than 15mg of powder, is the certificate lying 19:11
  • retention_time — two certificates from the same supplier have an identical chromatogram, is that normal 19:24
PS

the honest summary is that a certificate tells you what the supplier says about a lot they chose to test

whats the related substances table actually telling me

🔥7👀13
PS

if the certificate date precedes the lot date, ask. sometimes it is sloppiness and sometimes it is not
if you only read one line on a certificate, read the lot number. if you read two, read the assay

PS

update on the earlier thing a lab that reports "greater than 98%" rather than a number is telling you they did not integrate carefully

PS

sorry to jump in single wavelength detection can miss a co-eluting impurity that does not absorb there

PS

one decimal versus two is usually just house style, not precision, anyway

MM

is sterility tested as part of a normal purity certificate
mixed fonts and inconsistent kerning in one document is worth a second look

genuine question what does net peptide content mean next to gross mass
