export came through

policy page covers it

whole day redactions have happened twice and both were at member request

TT

how long does a redaction request usually take

LM

if you quote a date from here say UTC, the regional channels have had real confusion about it

JJ

mechanical question. how does the logging actually work, is someone copying this out

FA

no. the client writes a plain daily log, one file per channel per day, and the publishing step renders it

nobody edits a day after it closes except to apply a redaction

so a conversation that happened at 9pm in Melbourne appears on the previous calendar day. that trips people up constantly

DE

the alternative is every reader seeing a different date on the same conversation, which makes anchors and citations meaningless

FA

yes, and say so if it matters. the regional channels have had genuine confusion about this

CS

the automated pass is why nobody has ever managed to post a link in here that survived

FA

email addresses, phone numbers, anything that looks like a URL or a messaging handle. it is deliberately aggressive and it occasionally eats an innocent sentence

DE

it once ate a line about a bus route because it looked like a handle. we still talk about it

JJ

why are some days missing entirely. i went looking for a specific week and it isnt there

one, nothing was said that day. quiet channels have genuinely empty days and we dont publish empty pages

FA

two, a logging failure. we had two multi-day outages, one in 2024 and one in 2025. those days are simply gone and we cannot recover them

three, a whole-day redaction. rare, twice so far, both in #mental-health, both at member request

FA

it says a day is unavailable. it does not distinguish, on purpose, because distinguishing would tell you a redaction happened

FT

the other thing worth knowing is that a redacted line keeps its position, so reply-quotes above and below it still make sense

DE

you can see the shape of the conversation with a hole in it. better than a conversation that silently reads wrong

VB

archive status: 2,110 published days, 34 channels, 41 whole-line redactions, 2 whole-day redactions. last automated pass ran 6 hours ago.

VB

total published lines: 486,401. redacted lines: 41. that is 0.0084%.

FA

no. one timezone, one date, forever. it is the least confusing option available and it still confuses everyone

DE

swirl dont shake, and timestamps are UTC. the two catechisms
